Each weekday morning, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!
We undoubtedly enjoy the highly graphic nature and geometry of room929's work. Often finding alternate perspectives that cause us to reconsider our vantage point of city life, this recent photo is a slight departure from his usual style.
With a simple composition dominated by an extremely extended shadow over a whitest white backdrop, the image is just as graphical as past ones. But the organic arching of lines and the soft tones of colour varying throughout the person and their shadow are a far cry from the parallel rigidity we usually see. There's an essence of a hand-drawn illustration that discludes the grit of the street and replaces it with ethereal snowfall.

This reminds me of one of those Calvin & Hobbes comics where they go tobogganing. The shadow almost looks hand-drawn.
