Each weekday morning, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

Captured one morning at Harbourfront by Torontoist Flickr Pool contributor viaveg, this photo practically has its own soundtrack. One can easily imagine the distant, muted hum of the Gardiner, but the predominant noise here is silence—early enough that the tour boats still haven't opened for the day and the restaurant and shopping crowd hasn't yet descended on the boardwalk.
Without knowing this was shot in our bustling metropolis, the viewer would likely think this was photographed on some tranquil lake in cottage country. The composition and morning glow are perfectly captured, and seeing how Canada Geese aren't small birds, and we can truly get a sense of scale. It's small moments like these that remind us how much of Toronto we sometimes miss while mired in our daily routines.
