Sarah Slean's Toronto Songbook
Sarah Slean is one of Toronto’s most enchanting musicians, winning over audiences with her whimsical songs and charismatic shows—to see her play live is to almost assuredly fall in love with her. This week at the Harbourfront Centre’s Enwave Theatre, Slean will put aside her own lovely songs to tackle some covers, at which she’s equally adept (this Torontoist once witnessed her cast a spell over a cozy audience with her moving version of "Edelweiss," complete with faux weeping).
Accompanied by The Art of Time Ensemble, Slean will perform songs by (mostly) Toronto musicians, including icons like Leonard Cohen and Martin Tielli, as well as relative newcomers like Feist, Hawksley Workman and Sarah Harmer. The songs have been given new arrangements for piano, saxophone, violin, cello, guitar and, of course, Slean’s vocals, courtesy of a variety of musicians.
Tickets for this chance to hear songs by some of Toronto’s best musicians as interpreted by fellow talented Torontonians cost between $25 and $36 and can be ordered on the Harbourfront website or by calling the venue's box office at 416-973-4000. The show runs for two nights, Thursday, May 10th and Friday, May 11th, and starts at 8 p.m both evenings.

For a "Toronto Songbook", how on earth could they not do Dan Bryk's Spadina Expressway?
