PostSecret Meeting This Thursday

052707PostSecret2.jpgThree years ago, Frank Warren printed 3000 postcards inviting people to share a secret with him. Long since he stopped handing these first postcards out at subway stations and art galleries, he continues to receive secrets from around the world. Each week, Warren posts some of these on PostSecret, the largest advertisement-free blog on the internet. He has also published three books compiling some of these secrets: PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives, My Secret (secrets from teenagers and college students), and The Secret Lives of Men and Women.

PostSecret is updated on Sundays, and this week Warren announced his upcoming appearance in Toronto. According to the blog, the details are as follows:

Place: The Ontario College of Art and Design (100 McCaul Street.)
Date: May 31st (Thursday)
Time: 8:00 pm

This is the only event planned for Canada this year so please arrive early, space is limited. Call my recorded message for more information about this free event, 1-647-477-8427.

In the recorded message, Warren describes that the event will include a multimedia presentation, a video, and book signing.

Look for Torontoist's interview with Warren over the next few days. In the meantime, you can read more about the PostSecret project here or join the Facebook group for Thursday's event.

One of the earlier examples of how user-generated content can make someone else money. (I couldn't find any info saying whether any of the proceeds from the books are donated.)

Last year PostSecret raised over $75,000.00 for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center.
