Jordan Manners will be laid to rest today. His mother is calling out for an inquest so that her 15-year-old son did not "die in vain." If it prevents another shooting in this city, we're all for it.

Another Canadian killed in Afghanistan. A NATO helicopter crashed with five American crewmembers, and two members of the military, including one British and the one Canadian. A Taliban spokesperson took responsibility for shooting down the helicopter and killing all those onboard, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

Parents of a Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan last year say that Gordon O'Connor "offended" them. He had said that the government has paid in full for all military funerals, whereas they say that they have been reimbursed only $5,600 of the $12,000 it cost to bury their son, who was killed in a roadside bomb incident. This has only increased rumours that O'Connor will be asked to step down as Defense Minister. Although, to be fair, if politicians stepped down every time they were caught in a lie, well, we wouldn't have any politicians left.

Ah-nold brings Cah-lifornee-ah Green to Ontario. He says that Canadians need to take the lead on climate change, and demand that our politicians do the same. Schwarzenegger also presented Harper with an Anaheim Mighty Ducks Jersey, and Harper accepted, for fear of getting his ass blown up.

Six fishermen have been rescued off the coast of Newfoundland after their fishing boat caught fire. They had been in the cold waters for an hour, but five of them had the chance to put on protective gear before abandoning ship. No joke here, we're really glad they're all ok.

Edmonton's Molson/Coors beer workers go on strike, prompting worries that the beer supply will run out. Let us be the first to say this to the Toronto plant workers: don't you dare even think about it. We will pay your salaries ourselves if that's what it takes—just keep the beer coming.

And the Senators lose again. We're not sure if we should be sad, because we want to see a Canadian team win the cup, or happy, because we hate the Senators. We'll go with a little from column A, and a little from column B.
