Get Your Food and Yoga On

2007_04_27cacao.jpgAnother weekend of trade shows is upon us. The belle of the ball this year is the Green Living Show, but there are two other significant expos for which you should make room in your schedule: the Good Food Festival and the Yoga Show.

This is the 15th year of the Good Food Festival at the International Centre on Airport Road. For $12 you can enjoy cooking demos, free samples and great prices on all kinds of food. Ballots for judging new products are available to those who consider themselves a bit of a foodie, and would like to have the title "Official Taster" for the day. To keep up with the current trends in healthy eating, there is a Live Better! stage featuring talks by representatives of natural supplement companies, and Whole Foods Market has a Natural/Organic feature area. On the Get Cooking! stage, authors of Ultimate Foods for Ultimate Health and Complete Gluten-Free Cookbook show off some healthy recipes.

After a busy day of chowing down, a day of more spiritual pursuits can restore your inner balance. The Yoga Show is at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and tickets are $15 for the weekend. Start your morning with a complimentary meditation session, then check out the 150+ vendors of mindful living products, and endless yoga demos and seminars. To end your weekend off on a sweet note, Living Libations presents Chocolate Yoga, combining the pure energy of raw cacao with the spiritual focus of yoga for the ultimate sensory experience.
