OMG! This week sees the release of Kickin' It Old Skool, a Jamie Kennedy vehicle. He plays a breakdancer who awakes from a 20-year coma and something that Jamie Kennedy probably considers hilarity ensues. We here at Torontoist Towers are astounded at the idea that somebody greenlighted a film with Jamie Kennedy in it. Absoultely gob-smacked.

Moving on, Stone Cold Steve Austin plays Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Running Man On An Island (The Condemned) called a “pungent piece of B-movie trash with self-reflexive flourishes that suggest Michael Haneke working under the influence of steroids and stupid pills.” By Eye’s Adam Nayman. Vinnie Jones is also in it. We suggest you watch the excellent Survive Style 5 instead, which has Vinnie Jones on superb form. Next, Next, to which there’s little to say other than…next! (If Nicolas Cage actually could see two minutes into the future, he would have seen that coming.) The Invisible would be next, actually, but it sounds like there’s nothing to see there, really (*drumroll*).

There’s plenty left to see at Hot Docs, of course, as previously covered in our Best Of The Rest Of The Fest post; admittedly, we didn’t mention a few films getting a second screening that might be worth trying to see—Super Amigos at 11:30 p.m. at the Bloor Cinema on Saturday, for example. Do check out the schedule.

There’s not much else going on in cinema land while Hot Docs continues, but it’s worth noting that the Royal is leading up to screening Inland Empire with screenings of some Lynch classics—Blue Velvet followed by Lost Highway, starting Tuesday.

Also out this week: Everything’s Gone Green, which we gave a very middling review during TIFF 2006 (“Fun, very B.C. and almost meaningful, it’s a very near miss that still seems worth watching.”) And Black Book, A Paul Verhoeven film. Highly rated by Eye’s Jason Anderson, it’s worth noting that Verhoeven found it “a challenge to finance a film outside the Hollywood system.” He should hook up with Jamie Kennedy! They're willing to give money to that guy, and he's even more talentless than Verhoeven!
