Designing the Future

It is often said that the best way to predict the future is to invent it. This is precisely what Jacque Fresco has been urging humankind to do. Industrial designer, engineer, inventor and artist, Fresco is often described as a modern-day Leonardo Da Vinci. Encouraging society and government to envision a world where we use our collective energies to create buildings and cityscapes that benefit the greatest number of people on a global scale, Fresco's ideas may literally save the planet.
Produced and directed by Academy Award Nominee William Gazecki, Future By Design won the best documentary award at the Australian International Film Festival.
Tomorrow night, Mark Szilard, local sustainability guru, Burner and engineer extraordinaire, is bringing the award-winning film to Toronto. Catch the screening at the Bloor Cinema on Saturday at 7 p.m., $10.
Rendering by Doug Drexler.

Fresco was mentioned in one of my sustainable development classes. I think I'll go to this.
Thanks for posting this Kevin. Just to clarify the screening is Saturday April 7th at 7pm.
Also, the picture with this post is a screen shot of an animation from the film. The animation was done by Doug Drexler.
See you there!
William Gazecki (the film's director and producer) and I want to thank Mark for bringing Future by Design to Toronto. We wish we could be there! Please come to the screening and support independent film. You won't be disappointed! You can view a trailer at the movie website: www.fbdthemovie.com/trailer.html. Have a great time!
Since I can't make it to the screening, any word if it's coming for a Carlton run or when it will be available in rental?
I have seen this movie and it's very interesting. I wish we were living in Jack Fresco's society now! If we want our children to reap the benefits mentioned in the movie, we must all see it and support the change we want to see in the world! The time is now! Thank you for showing the movie. I will certainly be there. It will be great to see it on the big screen. I could use dose of inspiration right about now!
This is a fresh design...I think it ranks up there with the pyramids and the twin towers sleekspace dot com
His designs are so utopian and sterile.
