Cool It Danny Zuko, Kennedy Assassination, Imus Canned For Bad Taste, Summerlicious Sucks

The fine for street racing is now $10,000. There goes my weekend.

A man was discovered stabbed to death at 1:30 a.m. this morning on an empty subway car at Kennedy Station. The station was closed for investigation for most of the morning rush hour, and details are limited at this point. We'll keep you posted.

Pro-Tip #6834: Don't describe a women's college basketball team as "nappy-headed hos" if you value your job at CBS. Don Imus was dropped from CBS Radio yesterday after hosting his show for nearly 30 years. This is the story you will argue about over beers for the next week; read up.

A 91-year-old bed-ridden woman was sexually assaulted at Toronto East General Hospital by a man who identified himself as a doctor. That is wrong on so many levels. In fact, every single level.

Transport Canada considers making seat belts mandatory in school buses after a Brampton bus crash claimed the life of 10-year-old John Pham.

Oops. Someone finally realized that Summer/Winterlicious is a scam. The portions are smaller, chefs use lower-quality ingredients and servers are trying to get you in and out as quickly as possible to make room for more diners. Cardinal rule: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I could never understand the appeal that Imus had and was surprised that he was still on the air.

awesome, a 10 grand fine for street racers is a great start!

next, let's add people who drive and talk on cellphones.

now, transport canada's seatbelts on buses idea on the other hand? what a waste of time.. i bet school bus deaths due to not having seatbelts account for 0.00001% of traffic fatalities. mandatory siderails on school buses would probably save more lives. (all speculation of course)

I like the exclusivity of Summer/Winterlicious. The appeal of the program is that it allows me to eat at restaurants I couldn't normally afford to eat at.

During the summer/winterlicious times, people should write up reviews of the various places involved. And by reviews, I mean reviews of their winterlicious/summerlicious service and food (not their everyday menu and service)

I wouldn't mind being made more aware of the offenders that give the program a bad name.

I don't understand how expanding the program to include a greater number of restaurants can compromise the program. As said, existing participants are doing that already. Bringing in more competition would just benefit customers, with more places to choose from, and benefit local businesses, who can get some publicity.

I like Ryan's idea. Would Torontoist help sponsor some kind of effort to compose or collect reviews during the events?

Ryan/Gloria: you can usually find some {season}licious reviews in the redflagdeals.com forums... although I do like the idea of having some highlights posted on Torontoist!

you can also search for reviews on the chowhound toronto board, although sorting by date is a bit of an issue.

while i do collect a list of reputable restaurants come 'licious time, there are also many dubious reports out there that either have a bone to pick or a schill to hand out. it's not always easy to wade through it all to find the accurate ones.

i agree about the dubious quality of summer/winterlicious. my girlfriend went to a restaurant during the last summerlicious and had a horrible meal, with bad service to boot.
