Each weekday morning, we pick a recent image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

Feel like you're seeing double? We've chosen the same subject matter for today's Photoist as we did yesterday. It's an interesting study in contrast. Here, Torontoist Flickr pool member redmann (Ian A. Fraser) contributes his take on the ROM's famous mosaic ceiling.

Unlike yesterday's photo, by ekati, which flattened the mosaic dome, in this image redmann (with his different vantage point) accentuates the curves of the ceiling and focuses on the design at the very centre.

What is most striking, though, is how different the colours appear. Yesterday, the gold roof shimmered with a slightly blue-ish cast, and in this image any other tile colours have been overrun by a very scorching bright orange. We're sure those more scientifically-minded would argue over which one is more "accurate" than the other, but is that the point?

Torontoist would prefer to take an artistic stance -- each of these photos tells us something a bit different. Yesterday's the roof was portrayed as an object of reverence -- flat and high and far away. In the image above, the reverent distance is gone: we're almost close enough to reach out and touch it.
