The Daily Photoist: Cherry Beach

Each weekday morning, we pick a recent image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

Yesterday's snow storm caused havoc around the city, and made everyone's commute a dangerous, slow crawl. Either you were stuck in traffic, or like us, you had an hour-long walk home when no streetcars materialized.

Today, things are not much better. Wires are down, power is out, schools are closed, and Toronto's fire marshall is recommending that if you don't have to go out today, you shouldn't.

By contrast to all that bleak news, we present this beautiful winter photo by Torontoist Flickr pool member Martin Groove. Looking at an image like this reminds how majestic and beautiful this snowy season can be. We love these clouds and the wide, endless expanse of ice, contrasted by this tiny structure. Gosh, gee, winter looks lovely, no?

If you're luck enough to stay home today, you can always feel empathy for your work-bound brethren by listening to all the songs you have in iTunes that include the word "snow."
