Snow Falls, School Board Has Balls, Possible Election Calls, TPA Galls

There was an unexpected windfall for Green P as a major dump of snow, along with high winds and freezing rain, turned much of the GTA into a parking lot during the evening commute yesterday. Apart from the traffic mayhem, fallen trees and power outages have also been a problem throughout the city. It sure looks pretty, though.

The Toronto District School Board will meet with provincial officials today after trustees rejected a recommendation from board staff to reallocate teachers from inner city schools to other locations. The proposal was prompted by the need to meet a provincial target of no more than 20 students per class from kindergarten to Grade 3. There has been speculation that the TDSB fears a future shortage of material for films where teachers use rap versions of Margaret Atwood novels to educate surly ghetto kids about self-respect.

Pundits, wonks, and political junkies are getting excited about a possible election, with polls showing that Stephen Harper’s Conservatives are now 10 points ahead of Stephane Dion and the Liberals. In related news, a Decima poll shows the NDP, led by Jack Layton’s mustache, are now neck and neck with the Green Party at 13% of popular support.

CommunityAIR (Airport Impact Review) will be holding a press conference to discuss the libel suit that is being pursued against them by the Toronto Port Authority. Now that Al Gore has flown Porter I assume CommunityAir are announcing that the Island Airport is safe, clean and Kyoto-friendly? John Barber will be handing out celebratory punch?

So now you are in the business of publicizing the press conferences of lobby group under the guise of reporting news?
