Ah, the road trip. According to some, the greatest college tradition of all. Just about every university has some variation of a Ride Board, a place where you can post a trip that you’re taking in the hopes that someone will come along to share the driving and the gas. It’s usually located in the basement of the student centre, next to propaganda from the Students’ Council and thirty posters offering guitar lessons and Spanish instruction. It’s all so 20th century.
That’s where the smart fellows over at CampusLifts come into the picture. They’ve set up an online database of rides being offered by Ontario students. It’s free to use and only current students or faculty can register, so you probably won’t wind up sharing a ride with this guy.
There’s not too much on the site so far, they only launched a few days ago, but if you’re a student traveling anywhere in Ontario, we encourage you to register your ride. It’s good for the environment, you’d be helping a fellow student, and more than anything else… it sounds like fun.
