ROM Crystal over the Islands? Are you people all insane?

  • Brad

I think there’s a group of people, possibly the architects for the ROM Crystal or the construction crew, banding together and voting for ROM. There’s no way the results would work out like this without some bandwagon-skewing.
ROM Crystal is going to win, not because it’s reflective of Torontoist sentiment, but because someone’s cooking.

  • mm

It sounded fishy when ROM won over 416. But the same could be said for Kensington. There are a lot of us city-lovers here, and Kensington looks great in daytime, but who hangs out there at night? It doesn’t stand up against the Annex, for eg. Still, interesting poll, do it again with different teams!

  • Feli Kuti

Kudos to the emo kid that’s sitting at his desk, and refreshing this poll to vote for what will piss people off the most.
Too bad you dont win a prize for all your efforts, just the gratification of being a douche. Here’s to you.

  • Shaunpierre

Things are definitely getting hot! “Who hangs out in (Kensington) at night?” Come down here this Friday night ‘MM’ and I won’t need to answer that question!

  • Kate

I’m no architect and I voted for the ROM – I think it’s a bit off calling shenanigans beacuse the vote isn’t going your way.

  • james

I strongly doubt anyone is doing what you are describing Feli Kuti, especially since it wouldn’t work. Try voting twice yourself and see if the numbers change.

The Environment — the one we breathe and drink and eat — is losing to Kensington Market. What brand of crap is this?

  • Alex

A cheap brand of crap, we picked it up in Chinatown.

  • mm

Shaunpierre, I am in Kensington at least twice a week, once on a weeknight (ghost town) and on the weekend during the day (happy chaos). It sure is unique and I don’t mind it but there are better places to love this city.

What’s everyone whining about? The islands are “nice” but try saying that to someone from Algonquian; Kensington Market is funky (including the negative sense) but nothing comapared to some other cities; and the environment? This is a city, we don’t *have* an environment! The ROM is the ONLY significant Toronto thing left!
