Jews, the Environment, and How To Save The World!

2007.2.6.howtosave.jpgThis weekend, March 9–11, Torat HaTeva is presenting a conference about Jews and the Environment. The "Jewish Environmental Eco-Shabbaton" weekend promises wide-ranging discussion on Jewish takes on the environment and the environment in the Middle East. Emphasizing the importance of human collaboration across religious and political spectrums, the conference will be a combination of speakers, discussion panels, workshops and organic food-eating. It is also a chance to spend some time inside the asymmetrical Wolfond Centre For Jewish Campus Life.

Tons of details, including the program and how to register is all here.

And if the Jewish approach isn't your thing, perhaps you'd be interested in the screening of How To Save The World, a film about Indian farmers reviving biodynamics, an arcane form of agriculture in order to save their farmland and expose the bio-colonialism of multinational corporations. It's on at the Bloor Cinema, on March 10th at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, $5 for students, and can be purchased online here.
