Live Baby Live – Week of Feb. 12

Let’s just get this over with right off the bat — Arcade Fire have announced their Toronto show dates. Hurrah! They’ll be at Massey Hall on May 15 & 16, and tickets go on sale on Feb. 23rd. Predicted time to sell out? 1 minute 49 seconds. If you have no luck with those, the next closest location is Montreal on May 12 & 13.
In other big concert news, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you likely know by now that The Police have reunited after 20+ years. They’ll be hitting the ACC on July 22nd, and given that there are a few days off after that date, it’s quite possible a second show could be added. It’s great to see the band playing nice, but it’s too bad they sold out to Best Buy as their tour sponsor.
If that wasn’t enough concert announcement news, check out the massive list below…the calendar is officially jam-packed up until May now. We’d love to hear what you’re looking forward to the most over the next few months…let us know!
Best bets for this week include the Brampton Indie Arts Festival at the Rose Theatre, which runs from Wednesday to Saturday and is loaded with great local bands, such as The Meligrove Band, Uncut, The Bicycles, and more. On Wednesday, Apostle of Hustle will be closing down their residency at The Rivoli, which is likely sold out at this point, but a few tickets may still be available. AoH is a must see (pinky swear!), so if you can’t get to them this week, they’ll be back for Canadian Music Week.
If there’s a great show we missed, let us know in the comments. Tips and recommendations can also be emailed to
Concert listings after the jump.

anyone know when the arcade fire tickets go on sale?

  • Carrie

Hey Tanner — It’s listed right in the first paragraph! ;) The time they go on sale is 12noon.

  • Jim

Does anyone know where I can buy Arcade Fire tickets from?

  • Carrie

Sigh. Tomorrow at noon, Ticketmaster. Not sure why it’s not up yet, but RMS (the promoter) has TM listed, so I’m sure it’ll pop up shortly.

  • John Duncan

I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate Ticketmaster. Tried to get Arcade Fire tickets mere seconds after noon and they were sold out.
Now ebay and Craigslist are full of people selling tickets they bought just to scalp at obscene prices.
There’s got to be a better way.

  • David Topping

It’s a little late to help you now, but a friend of mine got tickets for herself and me (and good ones, at that — row E) right at noon by going to her local Ticketmaster box office in St. Catharine’s, where only three other people were lined up. If you have a friend who lives out of town, I highly recommend it, and I’ve found that buying online is almost always the worst way to go about it.
    Good luck either way!
