Grammys Are Never Fun, Facebook Group Flames Principal, LGBTQ Roundup, T on Jays Hats

Last night’s Grammy awards were just as horrible as you assumed it would be.
In the first five minutes: the reunited Police gave a lacklustre performance; Jaime Foxx’s attempts to warm the crowd with stale racial jokes flopped; the first award went to a duet by Tony Bennett and Stevie Wonder. Click. Broadcasting The Princess Bride twice during the lengthy award show was the smartest thing YTV has ever done.
At least 11 students of a Catholic high school in Caledon East have been suspended after posting offensive comments about their principal, Edward McMahon, on a Facebook group titled, “McMahon…Grinch of School Spirit”.
Canadian cinema is doing well at the Berlin Film Festival so far…apparently our movies fit in with all that freaky-deaky German experimental stuff.
Today in LGBTQ: Toronto Police scout on Church street in the name of diversity; York philosophy professor Michael Gilbert shows up to class as his cross-dressing alter-ego; Ontario’s deputy premier and health minister, George Smitherman, is set to wed his partner Christopher Peloso this summer.
Toronto pride! The Blue Jays have unveiled the alternate logo for their 2007 hats, which feature a “T” symbol for “Toronto”. Because Toronto is almost as cool as some sissy bird, but not quite.

Thanks for linking that article about Professor Gilbert! I see him around the department as both Michael and Miqqi, and the fact that nobody ever makes a big deal about this is one of many things I really like about my school.

Sadly, we need to be happy with just getting the Police on the same stage without a fight breaking out. I had to watch them though, (Synchronicity Tour `83) was one of my favorite bands and shows. Wish they had done “Canary n a Coalmine” though.
I also love me some Dixie Chicks, and I think it’s a nice little F*** You to the administration and to the stupid rednecks her ein America that they won big. I didn’t watch the rest because, you’re right, they do suck. I did catch some of Christine Aguilera, and while I don’t like her music, that girl sings her ass off. At least she’s not as icky as she usedta be.

That Rate My Teacher site is hilarious! I looked up some of my old high school teachers to see what people had to say.

I thought The Police had been getting along swimmingly for years now.
Anyway, the worst part of the self-absorbed Grammys was when the announcer was hyping the Red Hot Chili Peppers as, “the amazing performance that everyone will be talking about tomorrow” when it turned-out to be a totally phoned-in, boring, static performance. Unless people were standing around their water coolers this morning talking about not being able to see the band behind an inexplicable torrent of game show confetti.

i didn’t get through the whole show, but i thought Mary J. was pretty amazing, and chris brown wasn’t so bad. plus there was a good shout-out to james brown, and smokey robinson performed! i guess i totally disagree with you, i thought the grammys were alright this year.
