Nicely captures the dichotomy. Not a sin to enjoy the nice weather, but someday when we’re rowing our boats to work, we can remember summer/winter `06-07 as the year the writing on the wall went neon.

But despite nature coming off as a little confused, climatologists and environmental experts yesterday were hesitant to blame global warming for the mild weather, citing instead the more immediate warm winds from the west, an abnormal northern jet stream and a lack of snow cover in central and Eastern Canada.
“Is this related to climate change? The unfortunate, scientific answer is yes and no,” said Greg Henry, a University of British Columbia expert on climate change. “It’s a matter of scale. The weather is operating daily, and we’re talking climate change in terms of decades, so you can’t link the two of them directly.”
What can be linked is the very large, warm pool of water in the tropical Pacific known as El Niño that is currently causing more warm southwestern air than Arctic air to flow across the country.
[...] “Although it feels like it, we haven’t really broken any records. It’s the persistence, that day after day, week after week, and now month after month, we’re seeing this mild weather,” he said.
The changes that really matter in this world never occur in a politically—or even socially—convenient timeframe. It would be handy if we could point to the green grass and scream “ACK GLOBAL WARMING”, but we can’t.
The upside, of course, is that it would seem that we still have time to actually do something about it.

The unfortunate thing is, this is a serious issue…and I can’t think of El Nino without picturing Chris Farley on SNL, “I am El Nino….which is Spanish for….The Nino”
