Overall, the quality of Torontoist is great. But this comic is terrible. Its not funny, interesting or well-drawn. Stop posting it, please.

  • Caroline

What a churlish, unhelpful, and fundamentally egotistical thing to say. I like the comic, I like the art, and I like reading it here.

  • matty

that cartoon takes over “cathy” for the worst comic ever made.

Why did the streetcar driver get out of the streetcar?
Where the hell are they? At an intersection?
    Is the jeep still moving?
Is the jeep driver saying I know I know to the streetcar driver or the person on the phone?
What the hell is the actual plot of this?
    The punchline? Whaaaa?
Sorry – this cartoon ain’t funny.

Dang. If you don’t like it, skip over and read the next post instead. Is that too difficult a concept?
As for me, Roxanne’s weekly comic strip is the ONLY reason I read the Torontoist blog.
I like Roxanne’s quirky observational style of humor. It’s subtle and refreshing. Much like James Kochalka on American Elf or even Scott Ruso’s comic book Jizz from Fantagraphics.

    (1) To yell at the Jeep driver.
    (2) It says in panel #1 they’re at Bathurst & Dundas.
    (3) I’d have to guess it is now stopped.
    (4) I’d have to guess buddy is talking to the TTC driver.
    (5) Stop your car when the doors are open.
    (6) I don’t think it’s meant to be funny. Just a big “FU” to inconsiderate drivers. Whaaaaaaaa. :D
ps. I’m not too sure about these comics either. However, I’m sure they’ll get better with time.

Go back to talking on your cellphone and driving around in your jeep if you don’t like the comic (perhaps it hit a little too close to home for some of our negative commenters?). Personally I think it’s great! Thanks Torontoist, keep up the good work.

  • Steph

It’s not supposed to be overtly hilarious! It’s quaint, subtle humour and I find it refreshing.
    Jerks!

  • rek

I don’t find it funny at all, but I don’t mind reading it.

  • Karen

I don’t see why it has to be in-your-face 4-panel-punchline-funny?
Personally, I enjoy the comic’s casual observations and that it’s not trying to force humour on you.

COMICS: Punch-line and pun-based formula, like Garfield, The Far Side and Dilbert.
COMIX: Observational and ironic sequential art, like Ernie Pook’s Comeek, m@b and Povertyville.
Those who take time out of their day to post snarky, unproductive comments about it should rather choose to ignore it and get back to kicking kittens and slapping babies.
