Lost In Translation: The Cock Edition

2007_01_23waterback.jpg

When you're awesome at something and never ever make mistakes, the most karmic and mature thing to do is embrace and enjoy those who aren't as blessed as you. That's why we're titillated to present our new feature: Lost In Translation.

Our introductory piece is in celebration of Deepha Mehta's Oscar Nomination. It's a "Lan Yu Brand Multifunction Strainer" that hails from China and was purchased for a mere $1.99 at Honest Ed's. There's no need to criticize the product (it doesn't screw on properly and leaks when you turn the water on any stronger than a drip) -- that would just be low. We're here to draw your attention to the translation on the back of the product. It's priceless, it's magical, heck -- some might even say it's cocktastic. Thank you cardan theory design, whatever you may be.

We know there are A LOT of signs/banners/menus/graffiti in the city that feature really, really bad English and we believe they need to be exploited. So when you find it, send it to lostintranslation@torontoist.com, and we'll do just that.

Oh, come on now haters, it's funny! The large compilation at www.engrish.com always cracks me up. This one makes me howl:

Travis, "It's a "Lan Yu Brand Multifunction Strainer" that hails from China and was purchased for a mere $1.99 at Honest Ed's." These are objects found in Toronto. Chill out!

You can probably find it in San Diego too. I'd rather see some fixed-location bad English Toronto signage if this section continues.
