Live Baby Live - Week of Jan. 29

livebabylivebanner6.jpg

Concert announcements are coming fast and furious, now that everyone's back to their regularly scheduled programming. A number of festival dates are set all the way into September already, including the return of V-Fest to Olympic Island on Sept. 8-9. The festival is expanding out west this year, with Vancouver getting it's innaugural V-Fest -- although judging by the current lineup so far (headliners only), they're catering to a much younger crowd than Toronto did last year. Here's hoping that we get a slightly more mature and diverse bill, which will likely be announced in the coming few months. Here's also hoping that none of the bands get the shaft due to schedule issues (hello, Flaming Lips!).

Best bets for this week include Glasgow, Scotland's Camera Obscura at the Opera House or Apostle of Hustle's second Rivoli residency date on Wednesday; local musician Royal Wood will be having a CD release party for 'A Good Enough Day' at Music Gallery on Thursday; we hear that The Golden Dogs kick some serious ass live, and we'll be finding out for ourselves on Friday at Lee's; and on Sunday, Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. will be opening for Incubus at the Kool Haus.

If we've missed a 'must see' show in the listings, please let us know in the comments or feel free to email tips/suggestions to carrie@torontoist.com.

Music listings after the jump.

$500 to sit on stage? Thats hardly bringing sexy back...

Also Spiral Beach is on at Nathan Phillips square on saturday.

That's $501. If you promised yourself that you'd spend no more than $500 on tickets, today's probably a pretty shitty day for you.

From Idiots!:

Everyone should come down to Ciao Edie (College/Bathurst) this Saturday Feburary 3rd. Three great bands will be playing, Idiots!, Basement 11, and the Belle Jars. Music gets started at 10pm. So come down and bring a friend.
