Laughing in Video
Anyone can make a digital short and then use the interweb to distribute it around the world. It helps if it's something that people want to watch and then tell their friends about, but spreads the message better than playing to 14 people in the back of a bar.
In our town, video has helped energize the local sketch comedy scene. In fact, comedy video has become an art form unto itself. No longer limited by cheap props and stages designed for folk singers, performers like Adam and Dave are making shorts that make you think as well as making you laugh.
How does this proliferation of humorous video help you? Well, say you’ve heard that 2006 Tim Simms Encouragement Fund winner Nathan Fielder is a great deadpan performer. But you read that in NOW, so you’re suspicious. Well, click on the link above and see for yourself. See. Pretty good, eh?
Tonight, Jared Sales hosts an all-video evening at the Sketch! Comedy Lounge at the Rivoli. Fielder will be representing along with a sort-of documentary short by the Sketchersons' Holly Prazoff about the consequences of winning the MTV Canada Yo Mamma contest.
Show starts at nine and it’s five bucks to get in.

Holy crap, they based a skit on a series of books called "Would You Rather?" and "Would You RAther 2: Electric Boogaloo" that came out probably ten years ago. There's even a couple of pages of the book dedicated to people sucking at coming up with "would you rather" scenarios. The books are quite funny, this skit isn't.
"Based" is probably the wrong word.
Would you rather
