This Lamb Takes Part in Roundtables? Poos...Ideas? Discusses His Song Song Songs?

finalfantasyharbourfront.jpg

The slow move from Torontoist to FinalFantasyist is nearly complete. Owen Pallett is pretty great and all, but to date we've talked about his song "This Lamb Sells Condos"; the video for that song; the inspiration for that song; the prize that Pallett won for the album that the song appears on; the love that Canadian bloggers have for him; the love that we, specifically, have for him; previewed and reviewed his library show (and a regular show); and shown his cover of Joanna Newsom's "Peach Plum Pear" some love. Even though we're running out of ideas for Final Fantasy article titles, there's yet another interesting Pallett project that we thought that we'd share -- one that, as the press release handily tells us, "IS NOT A CONCERT!"

"Inside the Musician's Studio" is, instead, a neat new program taking place at the Harbourfront Centre as part of the venue's View Points series. The inaugural edition features Final Fantasy and Steve Kado (both of Blocks Recording Club) "being led in conversation" by the Globe's Carl Wilson, of Zoilus fame. Wilson will be doing his best James Lipton impression in discussing "the many facets of the creative process, from writing music to recording and performing live, among many other topics" with the two musicians.

"Inside the Musician's Studio" is being held on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. (doors at 6:30) at Harbourfront Centre's Brigantine Room. It's all ages and $5 a ticket, which sounds pretty fair to us. For more information, call 416-973-4000 or check the Harbourfront Centre's website. Torontoist will be covering the event, so we hope to see you there!
