Holy Moley! Torontoist Is Nominated for a Bloggy!

bloggiesyay.jpg

The Weblog Awards (affectionately referred to as the "Bloggies") are -- to borrow a quotation from Ron Burgundy -- kind of a big deal. In the blog world, they are our Oscars, except that instead of a brilliant gold statuette, eternal fame, and hot dates for the rest of your life, the prize is, well...uh...online bragging rights. But bragging rights are bragging rights, dammit, and we were delighted when we found out last night that we were a finalist for Best Canadian Weblog for the second year in a row.

As always, the calibre of the other finalists is high: they are, in alphabetical order, Drawn!, which is a group blog devoted to art and illustration; Kill the Goat, the personal blog of Toronto-based "Jay"; former Torontoist contributor Rannie Turingan's consistently excellent Photojunkie (which won the award last year); and Regret the Error, which documents hilarious, embarrassing, and cringe-worthy media errors, retractions, and plagiarisms. We encourage you to check out any of the nominated sites if you haven't had a chance to yet -- they're all terrific.

Of course, if you're head over heels in love with Torontoist, we'd really appreciate it if you'd consider voting for us. Voting closes at 10:00 PM on February 2nd, and the winners will be announced in mid-March. We're still just so excited that we made it to the finals! Thanks Torontoist readers!
