Bouncing on Beds at the Bed & Breakfast

2006_12_13hotelbedjumpchris.jpgWhen was the last time you jumped on your bed? How about jumped on a hotel bed- and documented the historic moment?

More than likely you're long overdue for a hotel bed jump. For those of you spending the holidays in the hospitality industry's overnight lodging, here's your chance. On HotelsByCity.net, self-proclaimed hotel industry maven Chris Clarke of Chrispitality Media (pictured) blogs hotel bed diving episodes from around the world. The concept is simple -- people have themselves photographed jumping on a hotel bed, send the photo and a caption to BedJump.com using the submission form, and Chris posts them. He usually adds a comment about how cool it is that Mary or Bob or Joe was bouncing on hotel mattresses in New Zealand or Singapore or Peru. So far, over 300 images are posted on BedJump.com

Jumping on a bed "has a naughty edge -- it's the one thing you're told NOT to do as a kid," said Chris. "People do it because it's irreverent and because it makes them feel young."

Sadly, it doesn't seem as if many people are leaping into down-filled duvets at Toronto hotels. So far only a Cambridge Suites hotel was graced with a back flip on one of its beds. Are our hotel beds simply not "jumpable"? Could be the reason why tourism is on the decline.

Torontoist also recommends one of BedJump.com's sister blogs, HotelThrone.com. Another Chrispitality progeny, it features some pretty interesting hotel washrooms. Check out the size of this one and this one!

DanielN is the master at this...and he's from Toronto.

Dear Torontoist,

Please don't turn into boingboing.

Yeah, I found bed jumper DanielN from Toronto on BedJump.com. But that jump was in a hotel in Jamica. He has some other shots on his flickr of hotel bed jumping in San Francisco and Arizona, but I don't know if he does Toronto hotel beds...

Dear Torontoist,

I second dudester's motion. Keep it real!!
