Twenty machine workers win $22 million dollars. I include this bit of news just to remind you that you, yes you reading this, do not have $22 million dollars. (Probably.) SUCK ON THAT, TORONTO!
RCMP commissioner admits to “a mistake” in his testimony regarding Maher Arar. But we shouldn’t judge him because everybody makes mistakes now and then. For example, I ate an extra sandwich yesterday, and he lied in a commission to see why an innocent man was tortured in Syria for a year and a half. Totally the same sort of thing.
Health care to cost $148 billion in 2006. And private sector spending is increasing faster than public sector spending, for those concerned about such things (although private sector percentage of healthcare has not increased as much as its cost has – hm, it’s almost as if private care increases more rapidly in cost than public care does).
City councillors express concern over David Miller’s expanded powers as mayor. Supporters of Miller point out that he has not yet dissolved the Imperial Senate, however, and that the delegation from Naboo has been allowed to speak against it many times.
In the continuing airport island saga: Porter Airlines says it’s on track to making a profit. Opponents say it isn’t. Actual figures proving the case one way or the other are not exactly in evidence, though.
Adam Giambrone likely to become the next TTC commissioner. For the ninety-five percent of people who don’t follow city politics, Giambrone is a cool frood, municipally speaking.
And finally, have the Jays made an offer to Ted Lilly or not?

The last straw will be a formation of a grand army of the municipality. If he starts whipping up the clone troopers we better start worrying. God I’m such a geek.

they’re already here ron. they’re called the police. armed agents of the state, with different rules of engagement.
kudos for two total geek references in one article.

I’m such a geek that I made the same analogy six months ago, in an email that I sent out about the new governance model being presented to the Policy and Finance Committee for approval: the subject line was “…with thunderous applause.”

Re:Giambrone: The line is hoopy frood. He is not one, by the way. As head of the cycling committee, he only had 1km of bike lanes put in this year. Shame.
