A Thousand Points of Light

2006_12_07Throwies.jpg

Tomorrow night, hundreds will gather to throw 1,000 colourful, magnetic points of light. Newmindspace presents Radical Illumination, Toronto's introduction to these delightful street art devices, throwies.

This temporary art installation will be followed by a mobile party by the Rothko Institute, leading up to a daring celebration in a place you'd never expect that straddles the line between public and private space.

I hope they remind people the LEDs aren't meant to be taken home this time...

I'm sure it will look cool but I hope these 1000 LED's will eventually be removed. The problem with LED throwies is the lithium batteries used are toxic.. do we really want more toxic waste in the environment?
