Little Tiny Tigers

babytigerzz.jpgA while ago, some tigers were born at the Toronto Zoo. They’re pretty cute (uh, hello, they’re baby tigers!), but a trip to the zoo these days requires some serious commitment (at least three hours of transit time and $19).
Luckily, there’s a BabyTigerCam [thoroughly sponsored by AGF -- Ed.] and we can all watch the little nippers from the comfort of our own homes. They play and sleep and eat a regular tiger diet: knuckle bones, half a cow head, and five small rodents once weekly.

What do you mean ‘these days’, Vanessa? The zoo has always been ‘out there’ past Scarborough… are you referring to the ticket price? I dunno, I think 19 bucks ain’t bad considering how much it must cost to maintain a zoo. And it’s still cheaper than a lot of things in the city.

The bike ride out to the zoo is quite pleasant. They have bike lanes on Sheppard and it is a fairly short ride, no where near 3 hours from downtown.
The problem is that there is very little in terms of bike parking at the zoo.

    The comfort of their “home.”
    Nice cage.

There’s a fast way of getting to the zoo if you’re anywhere near downtown, or on the subway — you can take the Go train from Union Station to Rouge Hill (30-40 min. or so?) and then take the Sheppard 85 bus, which is timed to come shortly after the Go train and takes about 5-10 minutes.
Even better, the bus back from the zoo is timed to get you there for the train, so it’s equally fast going back.

The deal with the cage is that they’re babies–the tigers have a pretty expansive habitat, this area is just seperated off so that their mama can really protect them.

I don’t do work anymore, just watch tiger babies.
