Chasing the No-Giambrone-Mobile

2006_11_04GiambroneSmall.jpg
Following the Spacing Votes post earlier today, Torontoist spotted the No-Giambrone-Mobile (unsurprisingly an SUV) driving along Queen Street.
A number of anti-Giambrone posters have appeared around Ward 18, claiming that the councillor is too focused on “finding drug dealers and hookers” and “parks and bikes.” The poster, however, contains no claim of authorship and has shrunken from the light of the public eye through anonymous cowardice.
We have gathered that the individual who may be responsible for the posters drives a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, is in his 40′s or 50′s and may need remedial grammar lessons.

    That guy is lame-o.
This vehicle sign was almost as amusing to watch out the window as Vaughan crossing the street with his family… Okay, not quite that amusing.

Regardless of the merits of any anti-Giambrone campaign, I’d argue that driving around with a big sign on top of your your truck is about as far away from “anonymous cowardice” as you can get.

From a post the Spacing Votes comments, apparently the author is English-Second Language and frustrated with a lack of response from his representative. So nice going with the grammar reference. It’s not a poster I would write but then my ward councillor hasn’t, in my opinion, screwed me over yet.

Giambrone doesn’t actually do much for cyclists. The bike plan is way behind schedule. I don’t see things getting any better after this election either, although Miller has been putting in some anti-Ootes comments whenever possible.
This doofus should lose the SUV and talk to people though. I don’t see what driving around in a big annoying truck is going to accomplish.

Giambrone hasn’t screwed anybody over. Do you really think shop owners should be allowed to use sidewalks for parking cars?

Heh I wonder if this is the same guy who flyered my street with a double-sided leaflet on why not to vote for Giambrone – branding him a communist dictator, among other things.

  • Paul

Also, Giambrone may not have done as much as cycling advocates would like, but he’s probably done more than any other councillor on that file. Cyclists would do better if they’d stop attacking the few councillors who try to work with them.

    Paul:
My name is Danny Nardelli I am the guy you see in the truck, protesting Adam Giambrone.
Just to responde to you first comment with regards to the parking on the sidewalks. These sidewalks were never there before. They were only put in place when Adam Giambrone had one of his PET project ideas of making this area a park. He always talks of what he does for the small businesses in his ward. These buildings have been in the area for 30+ years, now you want to drive them out because of a PET project. Thats a great way of taking care of the small businesses!!!!!
    Thanks for the Comment Paul

Well Danny, Danny and Joseph, you’ve certainly done your community a phenomenal service. From parking vehicles on public property (without paying the city) to increasing litter and creating hazards by driving around with a poorly secured sign on an unnecessary SUV. It certainly seems to me that you have demonstrated that your own actions do not have the interests of the community at heart. That you would complain about someone else being self-serving seems amazingly hypocritical to me.If I may illustrate my feelings in another way, I’m going to say that I have to assume from the way that you are talking that you are the kind of people who: don’t stop before making a right turn on a red light; refuse to understand that you are supposed to stop on an amber light; feel that stop signs are an imposition and an indignity; and, don’t understand that speed limits are set in accordance with the necessity to protect the lives of children in our neighbourhood.

  • Danny Nardelli

    Eduardo;
First might I add that these signs are secured very well. In the past week it has been rainning, windy, and cold.(have to love this Canadian wheather) But guess what the signs are still up.
As for the comment with regards to the unnecessary SUV. This vehicle sees and pulls more material in one week than most SUV’s on the road in their life time.(business vehicle) You cannot do that with a hybrid. As for self-serving I am speaking on behalf of the shops on Cariboo Ave.(which many are not fluent in the english language)
As for your final statement I have to say WOW. I would love to learn that trick, you can tell how I drive by the way I speak. But you are very wrong, I have children and grand children to which either played or play on the street. I know the rules of the road and obey like everyone should.
Thanks for making your feels heard you seem like a very nice guy who wants the best for his community the same as I do. Please if you have a chance go and check ou Cariboo Ave and picture yourself as one of those business owners. What would you do?

    Danny
Which small businesses do you and your friends own?
I suggest that people that support you shop there and people who think you are a shmuck take their business elsewhere.
Perhaps you can make some posters that say:
“if you think Giambrone is a communist dictator support my business, if you don’t I don’t want your business”.
    C’mon. I dare ya.

  • AgentSanchez

CLEARLY, anyone with a name so suspicious as Giambrone is not fit to hold public office.
