A Night At The Press Club

2006_11_05bwp.jpgThe Ryerson Review of Journalism is one of the most acclaimed magazines in the country – and it’s run entirely by the students of Ryerson University’s school of journalism. Running a national magazine is a costly endeavour, so to fill the coffers the RRJ is hosting a black-tie fundraiser this Tuesday night. It promises to be a good one.

In honour of the 40th anniversary of Truman Capote’s Party of the Century, the RRJ is holding “A Night at the Press Club”, a black-and-white themed party. Special guests include the always-funny Edward Keenan (of Eye Weekly), who will be reading a new work of fiction, and author/Ryerson professor Randy Boyagoda, whose debut novel, Governor of the Northern Province was long-listed for the Giller Prize.

The party takes place at The Social – 1100 Queen W. – and starts at 8pm. The readings commence at 9pm. The dress code is anything black or white, preferably from Bergdorf’s.
