Maple Leafs 2006: The Struggle Begins

raycroft.bmpAfter the Leafs out-performed Torontoist’s pre-season predictions, the real deal gets underway tonight. Despite the 3-5 record over the past two and a half weeks, the team lost a pair against Ottawa, followed by a pair against Detroit (with the Red Wings playing their “B” squad against the Leafs top unit in the second of the two games) leading in to the start of the regular season. So will they turn it around tonight? The smart money is on no. However, stranger things have happened. One thing’s for certain – Goaltender Andrew Raycroft WILL continue to disappoint fans this season. The Leafs play a back-to-back set against their provincial rivals, with the first installment at the ACC tonight. What better way to get off to an 0-2 start?

    Yup, they lost.
    Ottawa 4, Leafs 1.

Yeah, but did you see the footage of Stephen Harper cheering when Sundin scored that penalty shot? A bit too late to try and win Toronto fans, Stevie.

Yeah, way to jinx it! Grr!

As long as he wasn`t cheering for Ottawa.

Everyone thinks he was cheering because Sundin Scored. But the puck trickled across the line. I think he was cheering because he thought it was a save.

Wow, 6-0 over Ottawa tonight, stick to handjobs Andrea.

Funny, Raycroft seemed to post a SHO last night. You seem to forget that raycroft won the calder two years ago and his contract is fairly affordable considering his potential. Why not leave the sports to other blogs, I respect the effort but… if you want a really good hockey blog, check off wing opinion
