I Went To A Reading and A Boxing Match Broke Out

2006_10_5fighter.jpgOr was that I went to a boxing match and a reading broke out? Or both? Torontoist thinks you should wander over to Florida Jack's Boxing Club (782 Yonge St) tonight (7:00) to find out which one.

Penguin is launching Craig Davidson's new novel the Fighter, about the world of bare knuckle boxing. Have all those mid-Western nights softened up the baby-faced Craig Davidson. Will steel-town born poet Mike Knox show us how they fight in Hamilton?

Equally riveting is the undercard which pits Penguin publicists Stephen "Ghost Dog" Myers against David "Diesel" Leonard. The match answers the question, can you really punch your boss and get away with it? Yes, if you're in the boxing ring and your wife is watching.

The event is free and part of Pages' This Is Not A Reading Series. We'll be there doing our best impression of a grizzled sportswriter.
