The World Series is coming off a bad trend right now: 2004 and 2005 were both four-game American League sweeps, which make for pretty boring casual watching. The Tigers' dominance in the ALCS was a signal to many that this October would be more of the same, which could be a cause of the early ratings dips. With St. Louis up in the series, though, there could be a big ratings turnaround.

The audience potential is there (with the St. Louis-Midwest and the Detroit areas both large baseball markets), so all we need now is an entertaining series. If the Tigers can win one in St. Louis, we'll have the first Series to go beyond five games since 2002, which should be a big boost to the ratings.

Fuck yeah, Whitby.

Re: "The Star's resident loudmouth"

Her loudmouthness notwithstanding, she does make a couple of good points.

As long as the veils come off for identification purposes (driver's licences, health cards, airport security, etc) where society's well-being trumps silly religious gabfoogery, I could care less about the whole veil thing.

Fuck yeah, Whitby indeed!

Firefox is not superior to anything, get the facts:

Note: Ontario doesn't have the surplus - Ottawa does. Though the sentiments of your comments still ring true.
