Decadance Do's and Dont's

This weekend is Northbound Leather's tenth annual Decadance Fashion Show and Play Party at the Docks. Being the number one leather/rubber/pvc clothier in Canada, NBL never fails to put on a sexy show of fetish fantasy wear and is continually gaining notoriety within the fashion community.

After the show, DJ Matt C and Jim LaMort will be playing while straights, queers and all that lie in-between dance and play. Play? Decadance supplies a play area for the "swinging" BDSM scene, where you might find couples looking for thirds/fourths/nths to fulfill their fantasies. For you newbies and curious, here is a list of appropriate do's and don'ts if you find yourself in certain awkward social situations:

Do:
Keep an open mind. This should be your mantra. You're going to see things that might shock you.

Don't:
Point and laugh. You're going to want to snicker at some people's fetishes, it's inevitable. But remember, they didn't choose their fetishes, just honed them.

Do:
Compliment if you've run out of anything better to say. "That's a lovely piercing!" is much more nicer and conversation-starting than "Did that hurt?"

Don't:
Try to pick up the person of the opposite sex if they've said they're exclusively gay. Bad form!

Do:
Be gracious if you meet someone you know, decked out in fetish gear you'd never expect this person to be caught dead in. There's a good chance someone like oh... your accountant will be wearing a diaper. See "Do" number one.

Don't:
Fake it. Experienced fetishists will spot you a mile away.
