Arrested Development Coming To CBC

2006_10_10arrested.jpgSo the CBC couldn't hang on to This is Wonderland and there are rumours flying around that Hockey Night in Canada might be shuffling over to a rival network but there's some good news at the Ceeb if they can still pick up Arrested Development in syndication.

One question though: who's programming the CBC's fall schedule? Why is the only news that we can get excited about is the CBC picking up a much abused but beloved US comedy?

Good call, CBC.

It's a great show, wherever it comes from. Still, with only 53 episodes (vs 263 for Frasier) they can only run it daily for a couple of months before they get into reruns. Add to that the fact that the eps pretty much have to be run - and viewed - consistently and in sequence if you want to follow the story, it's an odd programming decision.

I'll watch it again, though.

I just hope they hang on to Intelligence long enough for it to build an audience. I saw the pilot movie last week and it was great. The first episode airs tonight at 9.

And what's with Doctor Who? CBC is a co-producer of it, but they're airing it even after the SciFi channel in the US (which has nothing to do with making the series, as far as I know). I downloaded and watched the entire season months ago, Mother Corp can't compete with that.

Word. They should have aired it at the same time as the UK, as they basically did last year. There is TOTALLY LOADS OF ROOM on the CBC schedule for not only Hockey but Doctor Who too.

Maybe it's time the CBC tried its hand at low-budget Canadiana scifi. If Mutant X and Andromeda and Earth Final Conflict can run for years and years, CBC can find an audience.

Dare I suggest: Doctor Eh?
