While Torontoist spent a lazy Sunday sheltered from the rain, 10,000 runners competed in the 42.2 km Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, raising nearly $250,000 for local charities.
Although Daniel Rono clocked the fastest time at 2 hours and 10 minutes, the surprise fan favourite was Michal Kapral, 34, who set the new speed record for "joggling".
Kapral set the world record for joggling (jogging + juggling = joggling) in Toronto last September, but was soon defeated by his archnemisis, Zach Warren aka. The Jolly Juggler. The pair had a joggle-off at this year's Boston Marathon where Warren emerged victorious with a record of 2 hours 58 minutes 23 seconds. However, Kapral crossed the finish line this morning almost a minute and a half faster than his rival's previous record.
Kapral's victory is seen as a great achievement for Toronto joggling enthusiasts, who hope to see joggling as an Olympic sport by 2012.
Joggle on, comrades.

I'm pretty sure that joggling is the best name for any sports hybrid ever. Congrats to Michal!
Yeah, Michal did a great job. He's so fast that I'm considering ditching the marathon joggling for a new sport. What do you think of swuggling? (Swimming + juggling)
