Everyone sufficiently recovered from Word on the Street? Over 200,000 people braved the wind and rain and descended upon Queen’s Park for a celebration of books. I have a book hangover, thus the lateness of this week’s listings.

Tomorrow night, This Is Not A Reading Series goes Hollywood! Journalist and filmmaker Bruce Yaccato launches Screen Legends, a chronicle of the “Canadian film pioneers who helped build the Hollywood we know today.” Joining Bruce will be Marc Glassman and a panel of film critics. The launch takes place at the Gladstone – 1214 Queen St. W. – from 7:30pm until 10:30pm, but c’mon, the party will probably be going all night. It’s free.

Up in the Annex, the Art Bar Poetry Series features Bill Kennedy, Darren Wershler-Henry (pictured) and Robert Moore. Don’t forget the open mic afterwards. It starts at 8pm at the Victory Café – 581 Markham St. – and is free.

On Wednesday, publisher Wolsak and Wynn launches its fall collection at the Gladstone starting at 7pm. It’s free. Down on the water, the Harbourfront Reading Series features Marcello Di Cintio, Brian Payton, Jason Roberts, and Robert Twigger. The readings begin at 7:30pm down at the Harbourfront Centre – 235 Queens Quay W. - and the cost is $8 to non-members.

This week’s can’t miss event is the launch of the new issue of Spacing magazine, hands-down the best magazine this city has to offer. The new issue focuses on the upcoming election. And, like most events this week, it takes place at the Gladstone. 8pm. $10, bit is includes a copy of the new issue. Run don’t walk.

Lots more going on Thursday: For conspiracy buffs, John Lawrence Reynolds discuses his new book Shadow People: Inside History’s Most Notorious Secret Societies at the Toronto Reference Library - 789 Yonge St – at 7pm. Over at Ryerson’s Oakham House – 63 Gould St. – a.rawlings and Sandra Alland will be reading at 7:30pm. Free. At 8pm, Sharon English launches her new short story collection, Zero Gravity, at 424 Wellingston St. W. Free. This Thursday is also the latest installment of Hot-Sauced Words, featuring Cynthia Gould and Jeff Cottrill, hosted by Creative James Dewar. It takes place at It’s Not a Deli, 986 Queen St. W. starting at 8:30pm. Free.

On Friday, the Toronto’s Women’s Bookstore presents When The Rainbow Isn’t Enough, a night of storytelling featuring voices in queer or trans aboriginal writers and writers of colour. It takes place at the Toronto Women’s Bookstore – 73 Harbord St. – beginning at 7pm. Free.

Jessica Westhead, Anita Lahey and Robert Moore are reading at the The I.V. Lounge – 326 Dundas St. W. – this week starting at 8pm. Free.

On Saturday night at 9pm, the Toronto Poetry Slam takes place with special guest Jamie Kilstein up from New York. Takes place at the Victory Café. $5.
