Really Really Hot Bloggers

2006_9_25gothamist.gifNo, we’re not referring to ourselves in the third person. We are referring to our New York City overlords at Gothamist. Business Week has picked Jake Dobkin and Jen Chung at that fine blog in a slideshow of their (your?) favourite bloggers. We gotta say, our bosses are hot.
They join a very strange list that includes people like Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban (he blogs?), Mike Frauenfelder of Boing Boing and Peter Rojas of Engadget.
We’re going to echo Jen Chung’s statements and ask why there are no women or bloggers of colour save her. The blogasphere isn’t this white and male is it?

Congrats to Jen and Jake. I expect to see Ron and David there next year.
Also, and I’ll probably feel stupid when I hear the answer to this, but when I see the Gothamist logo, I remember that I’ve been wanting to ask what the third item from the left is in the Torontoist logo. I recogize City Hall, the CN tower, and I’m pretty sure a street car. The third one I can’t figure out – it looks kind of like an oblong dirigible anchored to a factory, but that doesn’t seem right.

Hey, it’s that ugly OCAD box on crayons building. Damnit, why does THAT have to be on our logo?

What else could take its place? It’s one of very very few Toronto buildings with a distinctive silohuette. Maybe Roy Thompson Hall? SkyDome? Queen’s Park? I think that about completes the list. Maybe the ROM or AGO could be candidates when finished.

  • Gloria

Yeah, kinda sucks we ran out of steam after three. Most likely the ROM’s “exploding crystal” will have the most distinctive lines.

  • Karen

I thought the Skydome would be the obvious choice.

To be fair, it’s better than Shanghaist, which is accurate but looks like a collection of dildoes.

  • Karen

But to be fair, the Shanghai skyline looks like a collection of dildoes.

Gothamist’s looks rather nondescript too, now that I think about it. Maybe a New Yorker could tell you what each of those buildings are, but remove the name and it could pass as clip art of generic skyscrapers.
Another distinctive Toronto silohuette: Casa Loma.
