Norman McLaren at NFB Mediatheque

2006_09_26_norman.jpgOur boy reporter called him "arguably the greatest Canadian animator ever" after viewing the Best of Norman McLaren during the Toronto International Film Festival, so you might be interested to see that starting tonight the NFB are celebrating 65 years of animation production with nightly, free of charge events.

Tonight at 7pm, a Masterclass with BAFTA-award-winning filmmaker Jonathan Hodgson. On Wednesday at 7pm, "24 Frames Per Second", the Mediatheque’s 2D Animation workshop for adults, using McLaren's tools and techniques (Pre-registration required; call 416-973-3012), and on Thursday, between 7-9pm, ‘Masters of Innovation’, an evening with Academy Award®-winning animator Chris Landreth and Academy Award®-nominated animator (and McLaren biographer) Donald McWilliams. Finally, on Saturday the NFB will be running an all night animation event as part of Nuit Blanche. All events take place at the NFB Mediatheque, 150 John St. Toronto.
