Man Dies At Marathon, Rae Gets Boost, Last Council Before Election
A 41-year old experienced long-distance runner died at the marathon over the weekend. The man finished right near the end of the race.
The City is considering creating a law that forces homeowners to disconnect their downspouts. The sewer systems is apparently having a tough time dealing with all of the runoff during rain and downspouts on eavestroughs contribute to this problem. It will apparently cost around $600 a home.
A few houses and apartment buildings are apparently dumping sewage straight into an East-end creek instead of into the sewer system.
Bob Rae gets another boost from a former competitor. Vancouver MP Hedy Fry has stepped out of the race and thrown her support behind Rae.
There was a shootout at Regent Park over the weekend. Fortunately no one was hurt.

The Star reports on Scarborough’s attempts to get a streetcar network built in their part of the city. We wholeheartedly agree with this and hope the city finds the money and the will to do it.
This week marks the last council session before the November election. It won’t be a quiet session either; there’s a lot of anger in chambers over the garbage dump deal, the Bombardier contract and more.
