Friends, readers, commenters; lend us your ears, and a few seconds of your time.
We should clarify something: we’re not actually always grumpy. We don’t hate you, the city, or human existence. In fact, we love it here, otherwise we wouldn’t spend so much time writing about it. Our staff comes from far and wide – Vancouver, Ottawa, Glasgow, Montreal, Whitby, wherever – and have all somehow made our way here. We all have different attitudes, different styles, and different ideas. Some of us don’t even use irony! We do our best to keep the site balanced, and we do care about what you think. A lot.*
In an attempt to disprove allegations of our recent move towards bitterness, here are some cute posts from the past week:

As always, we welcome your feedback about the site, either by contacting the editors or commenting on individual articles. We’re nothing without you.
Now, back to your regular non-meta-Torontoist experience.
* Actually.
Awesomely cute photo from robannz in the Torontoist + Flickr group.

    You did seem to cross some sort of line with your anti-Toronto love post. I’m not sure whether it was the meanspiritedness (regardless of the level of irony) with which you addressed someone desperately trying to be earnest about her affection for the city or the fact that you dismissed her reasons for loving Toronto as being less legitimate than yours, but you certainly played into the stereotype of hipsters as the promoters of an ironic hegemony intent on…. whatever, yeah, you’ve already gotten 49 posts saying this exact same thing (though often with less polite language).
    What struck me most about that piece was that you misidentified the teen sex film recently shot at Vic as American Pie 4, whereas it was actually American Pie 5.
    I’ve also written things that have unintentionally angered and upset people. Most of us have. For me it tends to happen in those fleeting moments when my sense of inferiority and humility is replaced with a sense of superiority and entitlement. In the incident that I perhaps regret most, I shattered Darren O’Donnell’s faith in humanity (his words). That was three years ago, when I was helping him out on The Fringe Harold, and it went to my head. It’s difficult to think clearly about the implications of your words when you’re riding high on a particular achievement or distinction. Your feature in Saturday’s Post was damn impressive, and if you’ve had an elevated sense of yourself in the past week, it’s because you’ve earned it. Nevertheless, it hardly made you the final authority on the qualities of this city, as you discovered the hard way.
    But I am quite glad that you have posted this roundup of cuddliness, as the defusing of the tension on this site was very much worthy of a post unto itself.
