Autumn Officially Here, Decides Capitalism

More than a month before it’s scheduled to begin, the season for harvesting crops has begun. The announcement came in the form of Starbucks’ annual overhaul, which as usual is characterized by orange name plates describing an array of pumpkin-derived pastries and drinks.

Meanwhile, Halloween- itself another month away beyond autumn’s own beginning- has been ushered in at Dollarama. Anxious shoppers can now now buy Christmas items as well.

    Autumn? Pffft! Cal, Cal, Cal, you’re already woefully behind. According to Diesel Fitness, in an email dispatch this morning,
    “Labour Day is the NEW New Year’s”
    Thank goodness. I was kind of hoping to skip Christmas this year anyway.

    At Bombay Company you can already buy a range of Hallowe’en paraphernilia, including a 2 foot high mummy holding a candy bowl for $150. Presumably this is for once-a-year usage, unless you’re decorating sense leans towards the Adams Family.
