Runaway Found, Cops Looking For Annex Prowler, Parkdale-High Park Going To Polls

A 12-year old girl who has been missing for two days has been found after an exhaustive search in the city's east end. She had run away after a fight with her parents.

It seems that the Feds are stiffing Toronto about $6 million in homeless funding. The shortfall means the city can't sign service agreements with social organizations. Construction of new facilities for the homeless will also be affected. Thank you Ottawa may we have another?

The CBC wonders why the cameras installed in Downtown Toronto "temporarily" for Caribana are still up. Torontoist wanted to give the police the benefit of the doubt on taking down those cameras but with Caribana well over a week ago the temporary cameras have overstayed their welcome. If the police wanted to install them permanently they should've asked the public first instead of sneaking them in.

Police are looking for a prowler/peeping tom in the Annex.

Protesters gummed up Yonge and Bloor in support of Vancouver's safe injection site which is currently in danger of being shutdown by the Harper government. Critics feel the site condones drug use supporters retort that no one can get clean when they're dead.

More happy news from the AIDS conference. Delegates are loving Toronto, shopping, seeing sights and getting married.

A judge sparked a debate when he told a police officer to remove and store his gun while testifying. The police union feels that on-duty cops should keep their sidearms citing safety reasons. ""Where else do you get a couple of hundred criminals all meeting under one roof. The potential for an explosive situation exists and should not be taken lightly," a union representative argues. The judge feels that it's an issue of optics and that cops don't need sidearms to testify.

2006_8_17shit.jpgIt's official: Parkdale-High Park voters will find someone to replace Gerard Kennedy on September 14. Kennedy vacated his seat to run for the federal Liberal leadership. Current Parkdale-High Park councillor Sylvia Watson is running for the Liberals while the NDP are running United Church Minister Cheri DiNovo.

We're wondering what caused a high-school principal to throw human feces at children? The twist to this story is that she's related to Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone.

Finally, the Post writes about the DVP Jesus. Some say he's a man that looks like Jesus that hangs around a bridge above the DVP. Others say he's a woman that thinks she's Mother Nature. He/She has been doing this for 30 years and while he/she may create a traffic distraction police haven't tried to do anything about this.

What is the story behind the picture of the sign near the bottom of this article ("To the ignorant bastard......")?

Which story does it go with?

Hmm, the star story on the poo-flinging principal said it was unknown if it was human or animal excrement. I naturally assumed the kids' dog pooped on her lawn and she was like "hey, you forgot this!". I mean, who hasn't wanted to do that at one point or another? :P
