The Halton trash incineration idea gets batted around by city councillors. Councillor David Soknacki likes the idea and encourages the city to keep exploring it and not dismiss it outright. Councillor Adam Giambrone is a little more cautious and warns that incineration is often an expensive solution and doesn't think the idea would fly here in Toronto.

After 25 months the Ipperwash Inquiry on the shooting of native activist Dudley George is closed. The biggest target of the inquiry was former Premier Mike Harris. A lawyer for the Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto said Harris lied 17 times in the provincial legislature about meeting with people to discuss Ipperwash and influencing the OPP. A report was also tabled yesterday that contends that Black and Native persons were up to 37 times more likely to be die by police hands. The report drew strong criticism from the police. Inquiry comissioner Judge Sidney Linden says a report will be out by the end of the year.
