NFB Shorts In Kensington

2006_8_23bellevue.jpg
You could sit in a parking lot and watch a movie about cheerleaders (actually, that sounds like fun), or sit in Dundas Square and watch horror films (which also sounds like fun) or you could join the Toronto Public Space Committee at Bellevue Square Park for the launch of the Streets to Screens film series tomorrow evening, 8pm.
They’ll be showing seven NFB shorts including: “Neighbours/Voisins”, an Academy Award winning short by Norman MacLaren, “Blackberry Subway Jam”, based on the Robert Munsch book Jonathan Cleaned Up, Then He Heard A Sound and everyone’s favourite short about dancing men in forestry.
While you’re in Kensington why don’t you take Beth’s advice and turn it into a picnic, if things go well, go home. If they don’t head to Supermarket for the afterparty.

Also, if anyone wants to check out short films, there’s the Youngcuts Film Festival on Saturday (26th) at the Bloor Cinema (bloor and bathurst).
    Showtimes are Noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm.
    Tickets are $8
All the info, programs, award winners, etc, is at http://www.youngcuts.com

Hope to see lots of people make it! There are some really cool shorts lined up, many of them award winners. It’s all independent films, and the directors have to be 25 or under to qualify. Basically what that translates into, is films that don’t follow “mainstream” formats- lots of crazy, original stuff. Tell your friends!
