Your Weekend Brainteaser.

If you’re thinking of staying indoors this weekend to beat the heat, and can’t find something to do, you may want to try this (unnamed) brainteaser. The objective is to figure out the url for the next page based on the clues given on the current page. There are 30 pages in total, and you will need to manually type in the url for each answer. For example, the first answer is easy…you just click on it. The second clue is 2, so you would type 3.html into the address bar, and so on. Most of the answers go in numeric sequence.
This is not for the faint of heart. You will want to throw your monitor and any other unsecured objects through the window, but stick with it…you’ll get through it (eventually). We’ll even be nice and give you the answer to #13. Clue: “13, unlucky”, Answer: for_some. That one threw quite a number of people for a loop and doesn’t fit into the logic of the other answers, so enjoy the freebie. If you need any other hints, feel free to leave a comment and we’ll try to help you out.

    Is 196 the clue for 14 or 15? I thought it was for 14, but when I solved it I got 15. I’m so confused.

    Sherry — you were on 14, getting the answer to go to the 15th page…so basically, your answer usually has to do with the next page you need to get to (the next number).
    Michael — what’s the different between EIGHteen and eighteen? ;)

    Then I must have skipped ahead. I was on page twelve and the clue was a_dozen so I put in for_some (which didn’t make sense to me but I thought it was what I needed to put in to get to page 13). That’s where I must have screwed up. Anyway, I’m trying to solve un_ar_bymtheg now. This is addictive!

    I’m stuck on eighteen too. When I type NINEteen, I just get rerouted back to page eighteen.

    EIGHteen had me stuck for a long time. I ended up cheating and googling for the answer, and it’s good that I did, because apparently neither IE nor Firefox will give you the answer unless you download an extension or another program. I’d maybe suggest cheating on that one.
    I’m currently stuck on 21, trying to get to 22. It’s so hard, but I love it.

    For EIGHteen — just remember, when you put in the answer, you didn’t get that 404-type page, you just went back to a blank page, so you got the answer right…now you have to get twenty. Clue: you have to be fast. Clue 2: if you disable java in firefox, that’ll help. ;)

    Thank you! Disabling Java was the key. I had tried to do exactly what I had to do to solve it and there was no way I could be fast enough.

    If like me you don’t know how to disable Java (or can’t be bothered), you can go offline, go to Temporary Internet Files, delete the record of the one you don’t want to see and then view the one you do.
