Storm Hits GTA, Smog Hits Trees and Who’d Stab A Pregnant Woman?
While we were all asleep a big storm smacked around the GTA. Trees and powerlines were knocked down, Hydro workers and firefighters said this wasn’t unusual for summers.
Apparently many area residents saw the fight that resulted in a boy being beaten to death near Flemingdon Park yesterday. Sadly, no one called 911. One resident mentioned that fighting was common amongst the boys in the area.
A fire brokeout near College and Spadina. People had to be evacuated but fortunately no one was seriously injured.
The city’s conifers are being hurt by smog. Pines, firs and other evergreens lose their needles when exposed to pollution and other urban stresses.

The TTC wants to reconsider perimeter seating after the arrest of 17 terrorist suspects and yet another train bombing. The arrangement makes it harder for people to hide explosives and packages.
No free rides. That’s the TTC’s answer when reporters asked them whether they’d consider giving free rides on hot days. They just can’t afford it. TTC Committee member Adam Giambrone said it would only be possible if the province or the feds helped out by ponying up some cash.
A 25-year old woman who was pregnant eight weeks was stabbed several times in the belly. She went into surgery and is listed in stable condition. The accused is a man who has been living with her for some time.
Two women protest investor corruption by making out for 45 minutes. I’m not sure whether this is the most sound tactic out there.
