Well “Clean and Beautiful City” is just a buzzphrase — something that begins to ring rather hollow when you see stuff like this.
Those blue bins rek mentioned above are a neat idea, but frankly, like all the other kinds of recycling in the city, they’re more often than not filled with contaminants because people don’t care to use them properly.
The fact is that there’s no real political will (at the municipal or provincial level) to tackle our garbage problem. There’s no pushing for a ban on non-recyclables, and not even a hint of any sort of city-wide reusable container program. Miller may be a better choice than some others out there when it comes to a “clean and beautiful” city but lets not give him a free ride either eh? He should be doing a lot better.
