In a strange turn of events, Canadian media heartthrob, George Stroumboulopoulos confirms that he has signed on to the new ABC reality show, The ONE: Making a Music Star which debuts on July 18th.
Admittedly, we are a mix of happy for George and surprised at his choice for summer work. But we're sure the extra summer exposure will only do good things for his profile.
No worries for fans of The Hour, Stroumboulopoulos will be returning for a 3rd season of the news show in October.

Good riddance.
I like George, and this seems like a very un-George-like decision. But I imagine that if you throw enough money at anyone they'll fly south for the summer.
Well, it's not really leaving CBC considering the One is still being shown on the network and they're doing their own version in the fall. Think of it as summer camp....

More George exposure in the fall. The Hour is moving from cable to CBC Main. Following Mansbridge! Could they be grooming Strombo as the heir to the National?
I used to love how he'd try and separate himself from the pack during his little segments on Much News by slamming Justin Timberlake or some other fey twit like it was this hugely dangerous and brazen gesture when in acutality he was just a chippie for The Machine all the same. Real lone wolf, that guy.
Also, he was about ten years too late on the Johnny Cash Folsom Prison t-shirt.
And the dick target (or soul patch or whatever you wanna call it) makes him look like the road fluffer for Serial Joe. Tweeze that thing I couldn't pick him out of a Disney Store Christmas party.
old school Much George I liked, but he got lame-ass on the Hour. Interesting guests on the Hour every now and then though
Haven't seen the Hour as I don't have cable. Anyone want to wager on the likelihood that George will be the mean judge (or whatever) who crushes dreams?
