Double Shooting, Blackberry Service Disrupted and GTA Commutes Get Longer

A bizarre shooting has left police scratching their heads. A man and a transvestite were found shot dead in a Scarborough garage. The police aren’t sure whether it was a murder or a suicide. Neighbours aren’t even sure what the relationship is between the victims and the family who lives in the house.

We wonder whether there was any panic when thousands of Blackberries were put out of comission by a construction accident that took out three fibre optic lines that carried traffic for the Blackberry network.
Toronto and Peterborough want the province to get tough on pocket bikes.
Adam Giambrone wants the TTC to have a lobbyist registry in the wake of the Bombardier debacle. Some right wing councillors want the registry to include activist groups as well. To which we point out that activist groups don’t have a financial interest in lobbying whereas lobbyists very clearly do.
You’re not imagining things, your commute actually is getting longer. Statistics Canada released a survey yesterday that shows that commute times all over the country have increased for drivers and transit users. GTA residents have to commute an average of 79 minutes a day. That’s time well spent.

Commutes are getting longer? No way! Here I thought I was imagining the 20 minute wait for the northbound 72 on Carlaw, or the westbound streetcar on Queen, at 6:30 last night. I eventually gave up on them both, walked to Broadview (where I waited a bit more) and caught *that* street car. Yeesh.

TTC delays are almost as inconvenient as gun violence.
